Hiya! [23 Jun 2005|03:48pm]

[ mood | mellow ]

Hello, My name is Brandi. I just wanted to intruduce myself here really. I'm from Silver Lake, a small town in upper NY with nothing to do and nowhere to go. I've been interested in the paranormal and whatnot for almost 10 years now and have taken a very large intereset in ghost hunting over time. Myself and a few good friends of mine are always up for any visits and haunts, so if anyone around the western NY area wants to get together sometimes and do some hunting, we'd be glad to join! I personaly have had a few incounters with some haunting activity in my own house, including slaming doors, voices, and other little things. If anyone has any stories they wanna share, feel free to aim me about it, I'm always up for some ghost convos (my AIM screen name is Brokenguardian87 btw). Anywho, I wont keep ya all bored with my rantings ^.^' Nice to meeting ya!

Hello! [10 Apr 2005|12:42pm]

Just wanted to say hello -- I'm new here, my name is Sara and I hail from Albany. Although the concept of ghosts have always made the hair on the back of my neck stand up on end, and as a kid I was never able to listen to any scary stories, I have always been fascinated with the idea.

I think the building I work in is haunted. When I've been the only one there in the mornings, I've heard footsteps, doors opening and closing, and the sound of water running in the bathroom sink. When I went to check out the water, no matter which way I turned the knob, I couldn't make the water stop. Another coworker, Erika, has said she's had a similar experience.

Erika works on the second floor, in what used to be a residence area before the building was converted into offices for us. The building was originally used as a carriage house, and is nearly 200 years old. She's said that she's heard the sound of people running around, and one time when she was in the bathroom, she saw the doorknob jiggling, as if someone was trying to get in. When Erika yelled out that she would be done in just a second, and for whoever it was on the other side of the door to stop, the only other person in the office called back that she wasn't doing anything, and that she had been in her office the entire time. The doorknob then stopped moving.

Another time, Erika was sitting at her desk by the open door. When she looked up into the doorway, she saw a shadowy figure, and thought that it was Klare, a woman who shared her office. Erika was about to ask Klare what she was doing, when she realized all of a sudden that the figure wasn't Klare at all, and when she looked back, it was gone.

We decided that because the offices that Erika works in used to be residences, chances are that there would be more paranormal activity there then elsewhere in the building, but still, I hate being there by myself, whether it's early in the mornings or late at night. Most of these occurrences have happened in the mornings though.

hello, im new here so this is just going to be some basic introduction...

im from buffalo ny and well on my list of favorite things, spooky haunted stuff is probably one of the top things.

in the past, ive done some extensive exploration in the old buffalo state hospital, that really turned the ghost thing from "wow what a neat thing, too bad it isnt true" to "whoa, no doubt about it." off the top of my head ive been to gootleburg(goodleburg? i always forget) several times, pigman rd, supposed haunted house in cowlesville, i know theres a few more.. but im drawing a blank.

so yeah, hi.
ps. this is a bit of a blatant hint, but im always game for new adventures or suggestions or people to explore with, so let me know.

hey im new here. im not sure if anyone is from long island and is familiar with the townsend house in oyster bay. this house was famous during the revolutionary war times and was used as a head quarter by british troops. in present day it is used as a museam and my mother and i go there frequently. the first impression i get on the first floor of the house is just pleasentness. some parts of the house are decorated for the 18th century whereas the right wing of the house is decorated for the victorian era. now as i make my way up the stairs the pleasentness turns into dizziness and i begin to feel lightheaded. the nursery is very dark and dismil and you constantly feel as though youre being watched. towards the front of the house there is a fairly large room which is used for demonstrations- this room is where i feel the worst in. i feel very short of breath, as though ive been running a mile and again i feel like someone is watching me. when this first started to happen to me (when i first got familiar with the house) i mentioned it to my mom. we asked the tour guide about it and she reluctantly told us that the house does withhold some paranormal activity. when the caretakers of the house lock up at night they often here footsteps moving around the 2nd floor. sometimes visitors smell the aroma of an apple pie baking. once a worker there saw a man in 19th century clothing walking down the stairs and dissapated after it reached the end. there is a grandfather clock in the corner of the first floor hallway- it is very old and is always locked under any circumstance. as one of the guides opened up the house in early morning, she walked through the hallway and noticed that the clock's door was opened and wounded up. she checked the house and found no one, all the doors and windows were locked and they hadnt had the key for years and years. how did it open? no one can say. i guess many other people began to have experiences with the paranormal at the townsend house, since now theyve made it into a tourist trap in one way or another. their pamplet on the house has a whole section filled with stories of the hauntings. if anyone is near the long island area, i suggest you check it out- regardless if it is truely haunted or not, its a beautiful house with very interesting history in itself.
